The Chairman is Randy Lerner, an American who bought the Aston Villa football Club (AVFC) in 2006 for £66.2 million.

The Manager is Martin O’Neill who had a successfull time as manager or Celtic FC in Scotland prior to joining Aston Villa in 2006. When with Celtic he achieved three Scottish Premierships and Cups.  Before Celtic O’Neill was a European Cup winner as a player, he then took Wycombe to the FA Trophy and Leicester to two League Cups.

The cost of the current team of players is estimated at £54m.  The most expensive player is ASHLEY YOUNG who came from Watford FC in 2007 at a cost of £9.6 m

His Teams recent 0 - 0 draw at Villa Park against Manchester United ended a long run of consecutive wins for Sir Alex Ferguson and his team.  Aston Villa’s win at Arsenal a couple of weeks ago was Martin O’Neill’s first victory against the big four, consisting of, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.

The team that pulled off the 0 - 0 at Villa Park was Friedel, Reo-Coker, Davies, Davies, Laursen, I Young, Sidwell, Petrov, Barry, Milner, Agbonlahor and A Young.

This last game of November failed to bring any joy at Villa Park as once more Martin O’Neill’s Aston Villa team failed to impress and missed out on going third in the table. The fans were not happy and let the players know of their disappointment as the left the field.

The Villa manager, Martin  O’Neill is reported to have commented “That it was a very disappointed afternoon for us. We came here with real high hopes, full of confidence after recent performances and results, but we didn’t grasp the opportunity. I don’t accept that we choked, but we’ve got some really good players who are still young and they are still learning.”   Villa should really have won this match.
